Douglas Shieh
President

Douglas was born in Taiwan
and moved to Los Angeles with his family when he was
10. He studied at the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, MA, and now lives with his
partner, Tom, in San Diego. Though not one prone to activism,
he has nonetheless participated in the AIDS Ride,
cycling 275 miles from Boston to New York City to help
bring about awareness and knowledge of HIV/AIDS
to the general public. He has also walked in the AIDS Walk,
both in Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Douglas J. McCready

For a number of years,
Douglas (D.J.) has been the President of
LYC Toronto (2007-2009). He has been a member
there and on the Committee since 2003. He lives with
his partner (Arnold), a filipino (who immigrated to
Canada under spousal sponsorship). They met through
LYC International when he advertised for a guide to
show him the Philippines. D.J. was an economics
professor at Wilfrid Laurier University since 1969,
retired since Jan. 1, 2009. He has lived in
London, England (when he attended LSE) and St. Louis
MO (when on sabbatical). He has visited China
(multiple times), Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and
lived for almost 5 months in the Philippines (both
in Pasay and Puerto Princesa).

George Storrow
(Acting) Treasurer
Base: London, UK
|
English Caucasian. Worked in the Far East in
1990 and travels to the Far East frequently.
Member of LYC London since 1986. Former
committee member of LYC London. Attended most
iCON events and several IFW events.
George has graciously served as our acting Treasurer
since 2004 and will continue to do so until a capable
candidate is found.

John Kinyon
Executive Officer

John volunteers with several not-for-profit organizations
focusing on social activities, various hobbies, environmental
responsibility and retired U.S. veterans. He is interested in
encouraging cooperation between LYC International and similar
organizations, and expanding cultural and social service
activities. John has visited China and Singapore, and is
looking forward to future trips to Asia. He has attended
eight iCON and IFA events in three countries since 2002
and encourages everyone to attend future events.

Terry McCullum
Executive Officer

Terry was President of LYC Toronto for seven years
and chair of the first joint conference between LYC and IFA titled
ICONIFW.
He has attended many LYC conferences, a IFA conference and four joint
conferences between LYC and IFA. He is a strong believer in the
principle of LYC and IFA working closely together. He lives with his
partner, Sean, who is Malaysian and has attended the last four joint
conferences.
Professionally, Terry plays a leadership role in the mental health/
addictions field and has been involved in a number of advocacy efforts
for better service.
He is proud of Toronto's diverse community (the United Nations
declared Toronto the most multi-cultural city) and is Co-Chair for a
conference on Mental Health and Diversity which will be held in 2010.
He has also travelled extensively throughout Southeast Asia where he
was deeply impressed by the Buddhism he saw there.
